I’m Hayfa Alsabagh Marengo

As the founder and principal consultant of The Initiative, I bring decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, marketing strategy, and organizational transformation. My work focuses on helping nonprofits, social enterprises, and values-driven organizations become more effective, sustainable, and aligned with their missions.

My career has included serving as Executive Director of the Sedona Symphony, where I led impactful growth initiatives, and as Chief Marketing Officer for both an AI medtech social enterprise and a mental health nonprofit. In these roles, I implemented innovative governance models, equitable trauma-sensitive workplace policies, and forward-thinking initiatives that fostered sustainability and organizational growth.

I hold dual Master’s degrees in Public Administration (Nonprofit Management) and Project Management, as well as postgraduate studies from Harvard University, where I focused on creating cultures of health and happiness in business. As an Agent of Change Transformation (ACT) Fellow with Vitalyst Health Foundation, I’ve collaborated on impactful initiatives such as the 100 Million Healthier Lives Initiative, Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and Communities Joined In Action.

Throughout my career, I have led global teams across the US, UK, Canada, Mexico, Southwest Asia, and beyond, building brand trust, expanding market share, and driving revenue growth. I believe in fostering belonging and authenticity in the workplace because creating environments where everyone can show up as their full selves is essential to building successful and sustainable organizations.

As a neurodivergent professional with Iraqi-Mexican roots, I bring a unique and personal perspective to my work. My lived experience informs my approach to helping organizations align their missions with strategies for lasting impact and meaningful change.
